FEC Phoenix, the family entertainment center (FEC)-focused conference sponsored by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), held in Scottsdale, Ariz., this week, concluded yesterday with a number of informative sessions.
Rick Iceberg of C.J. Barrymore's began day two with sharing financial performance benchmarks. It was all about sharing revenue earnings on several FEC components such as go-karts, batting cages, mini-golf, and school field trips. He asked a series of questions: How would you build an arcade now with the information you learned at the meeting the day before? Should FECs add bowling or zip lines to their facilities?
Matt Heller of Performance Optimist Consulting spoke of leadership by communicating your vision with your employees, mentoring them, and motivating them. Katie Bruno, an IAAPA FEC Committee member, advised the group on using today's technology such as iPads, mobile devices, and apps that can transcend space and time in the everyday FEC work environment.
Robert Araiza of Mulligan's spent his session speaking on promotions and how they can attract more customers to your center. Jim Kessler of Lasertron spoke about FEC customer service and his thoughts on bringing adults into facilities. Scott Brown of wddonline (web site design and development) spoke about social media and how to make right what many are doing wrong.
